Dear Rutgers Anti-caste community,
The Rutgers Anti Caste Collective invites you to a potluck gathering next Friday. Our theme is Caste and Food.
While food often brings people together, it can also be a site of discrimination and exclusion. This event explores how taste, smell, and texture are shaped by social hierarchies—and how food becomes central to questions of caste and belonging.
We will begin with a discussion of Dalit Kitchens of Marathwada by Shahu Patole, followed by a short presentation on diverse food traditions in South Asia. The event will have a potluck, where participants are invited to bring a dish, share their story, and learn from one another.
We hope you can share this invitation with others who might be interested, and hope to see you there! Please be in touch with any questions.
Solidarity,
RUACC
