Event Description: Join Tina Chen and Charlotte Eubanks for a discussion on the philosophy, principles, and practices animating Global Asias scholarship. Drawing on Penn State’s Global Asias Initiative and the award-winning journal Verge: Studies in Global Asias, the event explores comparative, relationally hybrid, polyvocal, and multiscalar scholarship.

  • Dr. Charlotte Eubanks — Professor of Comparative Literature, Japanese and Asian Studies, Penn State. Author of The Art of Persistence: Akamatsu Toshiko and the Visual Culture of Transwar Japan and Buddhist Textual Culture and Medieval Japan. Editor of The Oxford Handbook of Buddhist Literature.
  • Dr. Tina Chen — Director of the Global Asias Initiative and Professor of English and Asian American Studies, Penn State. Author of Double Agency: Acts of Impersonation in Asian American Literature and Culture and co-editor of Verge: Studies in Global Asias.
